Announcements
Winter in AFTERMATH
Upcoming Math Olympiad competitions are scheduled for Friday, January 17 and Friday, February 28. The competition is heating up, despite the cold temperatures! Congratulations go to Kyle C. and Paul C., who are tied for first place on our school team.

On the Mathemusicians front, we've finished recording and editing audio for "Multiply Reciprocals" and are getting ready to film the video portion.

We've formed committees to work on aspects of our First Annual Family Math Night, and will have a date set by the end of February. Club members will be collecting pledges to donate food for concessions, prizes, and chaperones. They will also be creating advertisements, activities, and decorations for the event.

Our National Math Club Silver-Level requirements are almost finished - we need to have 2 more meetings, and then we're set. We have just begun working on our Gold-Level project, which begins with a scavenger hunt to take pictures of objects, scenes, or situations that match the vocabulary words below. We'll then write story problems for each one and create a presentation. Vocab words follow in blue:

National Math Club Gold-Level Project Vocabulary:
acute angle, average, circumference, congruent, consecutive integers, diameter, dilation, fraction, frustum, hexagon, middle, obtuse angle, parallel, parallelogram, pattern, prism, pyramid, quadrant, ratio, reflection, rotation, sector, symmetry, tessellation, translation, unit of measure, volume
